{"id":146,"date":"2017-02-02T01:54:40","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T06:54:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/?p=146"},"modified":"2017-02-03T14:50:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T19:50:53","slug":"wednesdays-adventures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/?p=146","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday&#8217;s Adventures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday&#8217;s travels started with a visit to Mar Elias High School.\u00a0 This school is an intercultural school in I&#8217;bilin, an Arab village in Northern Israel.\u00a0 The founder Arch Bishop Elias Chacour has more than 1200 Muslim and Christian students in the Christian based school.\u00a0 Our group intermingled with the students in their classes and were able to learn more about their Palestinian culture and struggles. They were much like our high schoolers with their cell phones and after school activities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-199\" src=\"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5229-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5229\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5229-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5229-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5229-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5229-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had a wonderful conservation with Elias Chacour for about two hours.\u00a0 He discussed his life story as an Israeli Arab Palestinian Christian.\u00a0 From being driven out of his homeland in 1947 to becoming a Greek Orthodox Priest.\u00a0 He has quite a story to tell, which you can read in his book &#8220;Blood Brothers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-202\" src=\"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5233-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5233\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5233-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5233-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5233-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/gbillman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_5233-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our next stop was at a Fair Trade establishment called Sindyanna of Galilee.\u00a0 It is a female-led non-profit that actively promotes the concepts of &#8220;business for peace&#8221;
